NASA Harvest, University of Maryland

Since August of 2021, I have been with NASA Harvest as a member of the development team, hosted by the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. I support a variety of projects and programs, with international partners in many countries. The majority of my work involves field campaign design and management, citizen science, agricultural supply chain analysis, and data management.

Maryland through-and-through, I attended the University of Maryland for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. In 2020, I received my Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Science and Policy, with a concentration in Biodiversity and Conservation and a minor in GIS. In my final year, I also joined NASA Harvest as an intern. I stayed on with NASA Harvest as a Graduate Research Assistant for Dr. Michael Humber while I pursued my Master's of Science in GIS and Remote Sensing. Before graduating in 2022, I switched to the position of Faculty Specialist, where I have been ever since.

Prior to joining NASA Harvest, I spent time at the Smithsonian Department of Entomology, studying Madagascar's Coleoptera. I also worked in labs at the University of Maryland studying sexual dimorphism in bowerbirds, the impact of climate change on Chesapeake Bay V. americana, and urban ecology in Baltimore, Maryland, and New York.

In addition to my work duties, I am the current chair of the Faculty Specialist Committee, where I do my best to advocate for the needs of the Department of Geography's most diverse group. I am also a member of the Committee for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism. In an attempt to meld some of the fractures that the COVID-19 pandemic had on social life in the work place, I have also served as the captain and coordinator for a miriad of sports teams, including football, American flag football, basketball, foot tennis, futsal, and volleyball. We call our team "Core GIS" (pronounced as "Corgis"), which is a reference that goes over the head of most who hear of it.

Outside of work, you are most likely to find me playing football or volleyball, but I also dedicate lots of time canvassing and volunteering at a children's track and field organization.
